Plastering and roof finished, kitchen fitted.

I am a little bit behind with my blog at the moment.  I had a weekend away only to return with a tummy bug that had been passed onto me.  So last Monday afternoon after a morning of will I, won’t I be sick, I had to call it a day and spend the afternoon in bed feeling rough.  I was back to work on the Tuesday, but I didn’t feel 100% all week and wasn’t up to blogging come evening time.
As for the progress of the job, after all the plaster board was fixed, John and J came in on the Tuesday with Andy and Liam to plaster skim the kitchen, utility and extension.  We had to have everything finished by the Friday so the room was available for the kitchen fitters to do their thing the following week. Andy and Liam were in the rest of the week carrying out some making good plastering.
While they carried on with that, Dane and I set about getting the roof finished off.  We put in the gable abutment system and lead soakers and then set about putting in the new lead flashing.  We then finished off the facia and soffit and ran in the new guttering and down pipes.  Come the end of the week, the kitchen was all in place, the roof was finished and we moved onto laying the new paving patio area.  The end of the job is getting closer and closer.

Plasterboarding Finished

On Monday I had a little trip down to Harlow again to pick up some more of the coloured mortar mix we are using on this current job while Dane continued fixing the new metal stud work system in place in preparation for plaster boarding.  John the brickie was on site on Tuesday to create a new structural kitchen window opening, and then the rest of the week was spent continuing with the metal stud work system and then fixing the plaster board, while on the Friday I put in the new extension window.

Insulation and plaster boarding

Across the week we insulated between the internal roof timbers with Celotex and then put on a cross layer of Celotex.  We then foil taped all the joints and then set about plaster boarding the vaulted ceiling.  Towards the end of the week we started to fix the metal stud work system in the extension and then followed on by plaster boarding the walls.
