The Roof Trusses Are The Right Size This Time!

We were back on site on the Tuesday after a very long weekend off awaiting the second delivery of our roof trusses after the unfortunate incident with the first set.  This time they were the correct size, hip hip hooray!  We got the trusses up onto the roof and into position.  We called out the Building Inspector for a site visit on the Wednesday to sign off the trusses and the work we had done to date, which he duly did.  We then spent most of the afternoon in strong windy conditions trying to lay the roof felt, which was great fun. Like flying a kite, apart from we were the kite!

Wayne then built up the last of the block work on the gable end, while Stu and I had the lovely task of getting all the roof tiles loaded up onto the scaffold.  Enter the Bumpa, a motorised conveyer belt machine which assisted us in getting the tiles up in just  a few hours, instead of us both taking a day running up and down the ladder.  By the end of Thursday we had all the tiles on, the guttering and facia in place and we were just waiting on Wayne to finish the brick work on the gable end.  We needed to lay the ridge tiles and point up, but the weather wasn’t in our favour.

Friday we spent installing all the new UPVC windows in our newly water tight extension shell while it chucked it down with rain outside.  I arranged with David at the builders merchant for our delivery of sand, cement and floor insulation for delivery the following week ready for the ground floor to be screeded, and we also got the stairs on order ready for delivery in two weeks time.
